U-Pick Organic Blueberries! Yes, please!

Happy Saturday morning!!
It has occurred to me, that in my busyness over the past few weeks, I have neglected to post some really fun stuff, and some great moments that I don't want to let slip on by. So in order to appease the OCD beast within, I am going to try to do a little catching up... we'll see how that goes.

It is true, a few weeks ago I found my thri-ill, on Blueberry Hill... We love U-pick berries in general, but were SUPER excited to find organic blueberries to pick. The prices are excellent, as well. $4 per pound of conventional (non-organic) blueberries, and $6 per pound for organic berries. That is a great deal, considering that I usually pay that much for a pint!

Blueberry Hill Farm is located in Clermont Florida, and is owned and staffed by a really sweet family. When you get there, they give you a bucket or a bag, and tell you the one rule of the farm... "Eat as many blueberries as you can, while you're picking"...  My kids said, "say whaaat?!" Usually we are saying "Ok guys, only one or two until we pay for them..." So needless to say, that was a great way to start our time on the farm.

The next highlight of our trip was the golf cart ride out to the blueberries. This is "Uncle" Roy, and he was full of stories and conversation, and prayed blessings over our baby. He's a retired teacher, so we loved talking education with him, and were happy to let him teach the kids all about farming, world history, science, ect... And then the golf cart comes to pick you up and take you back when you're finished.

The kids took full advantage of the first rule of picking...

This man... I am a lucky girl!

While the big kids picked (and ate), Taite enjoyed the warm breeze and a nap.
He was 5 weeks old.

As you can see, my children have no problem meeting new people, and making themselves right at home...

After we were done picking our beautiful blueberries, we enjoyed a picnic lunch, and then went fishing in their ponds, and the fish were a bitin'!

I love this picture! Proud daddy is taking a picture of his girl's big catch.

If you are interested, I would COMPLETELY recommend taking a trip out to this farm! It was such a great experience for the whole family. They reportedly will have berries through the end of May, although you can double check on their FB page, or website to be sure the berries are still available. Start early, before it get's too hot (they are open 7 days a week, 9am-5pm), and be sure to pack sunscreen, a lunch, and a fishing pole and bait if you want to make a few hours of it. And then, enjoy!

Have a great weekend!
