Blessings Abound.

Tonight I am just feeling blessed.

We closed on ten acres of land today. Ten acres that (Lord willing) will one day have a house for our family, a place to teach our children and to watch them grow. There will be a garden for our hands that will provide delicious and nutritious foods for our bellies. There will be chickens and goats and maybe a cow or two. There will be big oak trees, and picnic tables under them. And yes, there will be cowgirl boots.

This land has not come easily to us. We started planning for this about three years ago. We made a big investment, thinking we could earn some extra money in a short amount of time to put toward our land, and we lost it all.

Last year we made a list, as we looked at difference places, of what we wanted in a property. We listed our top 5 locations in order of our preference. We searched and prayed earnestly that we would find the place that God wanted us to be. We prayed that we would find something that we could afford. And we prayed that we would be content with our current surroundings until the time was right for us to buy, build and move.

The following is taken directly from our "property wish list" document.

Location (in order of preference):

  1. Oviedo- Black Hammock
  2. Geneva
  3. Chuluota
  4. SR46- west of I-4
  5. Osteen

Land:

  • 5 or more acres
  • Zoned agricultural
  • at least ½ acre of proper gardening space
  • Aesthetically pleasing neighborhood, with appropriate neighbors
  • Outdoor area for picnics, parties, cookouts, entertaining, fire pit, etc.
  • Trees with decent amount of shade
  • High and dry land
  • Not directly on a main road

I am crying right now, as I read over this list. My God has met every single one of my silly "wishes". He is so good, and he really does loves us. And he isn't just loving when we are getting what we've asked for. He loves us when we are struggling to recover from a financial loss, he loves us when our loved ones are sick, he loves us when we are arguing with our spouses, he loves us when we're afraid and lonely and bitter. He loves us all of the time.

There are lessons to learn in those difficult times, and oh, how we pray to learn the lesson, even when it hurts, so we don't have to go through it again. And in the teaching and learning, there is pain, but there is growing and changing. And there is blessing.

After our closing this morning, we went out for a celebratory lunch with Bryan's sister to our favorite German Restaurant. Then the rain set in, and continued for the rest of the afternoon.

Yesterday, I posted a message on FB that said we were looking for a 2006-2007 Hyundai Sonata, and asked if anyone is selling one, or knows someone who is. My sweet friend messaged me, almost right away, stating that someone from her church just posted a message that they were selling their 2007 Hyundai Sonata, if anyone knows someone that is interested. After all of our struggles with car dealerships this past week, and Craig's list busts, I truly wanted to find a real someone that needed to sell their car, to another real someone that didn't want to waste money in taxes and fees.

Later in the day, a FB friend posted that perhaps God would "give us the right car", along with closing on the land. Another friend teasingly made the query as to "if God was giving cars away now". The thing is, while God does not necessarily give cars away, he sure does make timely provisions, with our best interest in mind.

Tonight we met a beautiful Christian family. They were warm and welcoming, and I would consider them friends. Our children played together, while the dads talked business and took a test drive, and the moms talked kids and life. And tonight, a Christian family in Orlando is excited to be able to purchase a bigger car for their family, and a Christian family in Sanford is excited to have a car that was so well taken care of, and exactly what we were looking for. God's timing is perfect all around and in so many ways.

Then we drove to our new property. I had dinner packed, and plans for a celebration picnic, but when we got out, the mosquitoes were a plenty, and the day of rain had left quite a wet mess. So we went back home to eat our picnic dinner. Bryan had the kids in his car, and while I drove home in the quiet, I gave thanks.
